1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the Hillsborough County
3 Civil Service Board; amending chapter 2000-445,
4 Laws of Florida; providing a definition; adding
5 a class of employment exempt from the
6 classified service; providing an effective
7 date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Subsections (19) through (32) of section 5
12 of chapter 2000-445, Laws of Florida, are renumbered as
13 subsections (20) through (33), respectively, and a new
14 subsection (19) is added to that section, to read:
15 Section 5. Definitions.--As used in this act:
16 (19) "Information technology professional" means a
17 position designated by an appointing authority after July 1,
18 2007, for which a qualified applicant would have demonstrable
19 and creditable experience in the development or management of
20 computer, telecommunication, or data-sharing systems and
21 generally including graduation from an accredited college or
22 university in an appropriately related field or recognized
23 industry standard certification and excluding, notwithstanding
24 any other provision of law, any information technology
25 position in the classified service as of January 1, 2007,
26 except and unless that position is vacant at the time a
27 designation is made or an incumbent in any such position
28 concurs with a transfer to the exempt service as a designated
29 information technology professional.
30 Section 2. Paragraphs (e) and (f) of subsection (2) of
31 section 6 of chapter 2000-445, Laws of Florida, are

1 redesignated as paragraphs (f) and (g), respectively, and a
2 new paragraph (e) is added to that subsection, to read:
3 Section 6. Classes of employees.--
4 (2) The following classes of employment are exempt
5 from the classified service and are subject to any rights
6 provided by their appointing authority. The exempt service
7 includes:
8 (e) Information technology professionals;
9 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
