  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the Tampa Educational

  3         Cable Consortium and The Education Channel and

  4         recognizing October 1, 2007, as "Tampa

  5         Education Cable Consortium Day" in the State of

  6         Florida.

  7  

  8         WHEREAS, Tampa Educational Cable Consortium, a

  9  nonprofit organization, and its service, The Education

10  Channel, support the community through a variety of

11  award-winning educational and thought-provoking local,

12  national, and international television programs, and

13         WHEREAS, the Tampa Educational Cable Consortium (TECC)

14  was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in this state on

15  October 1, 1987, and

16         WHEREAS, TECC and The Education Channel were nationally

17  recognized and awarded the Overall Excellence in Educational

18  Access Award for the past 3 consecutive years, and

19         WHEREAS, this national award has been bestowed on TECC

20  seven times since 1996 and is among the more than 100

21  programming awards that The Education Channel has received for

22  producing educational television shows of interest to the

23  Hillsborough County community, NOW, THEREFORE,

24  

25  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

26  

27         That the Florida Senate congratulates the Tampa

28  Educational Cable Consortium on the occasion of its 20th

29  anniversary, commends it for achieving national stature in

30  serving the countless, diverse educational needs of the

31  residents of Hillsborough County and this state, and

 3         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

 4  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the Tampa

 5  Educational Cable Consortium as a tangible token of the

 6  sentiments of the Florida Senate.
