  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing March 28, 2007, as

  3         "Truckers Day" in Florida.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, Florida's economy depends on having a highly

  6  efficient and reliable transportation system, and

  7         WHEREAS, the trucking industry is the backbone of the

  8  state's economy and, as a leading mode of moving freight, the

  9  trucking industry plays a vital role in advancing Florida's

10  prosperity, and

11         WHEREAS, Florida's trucking industry safely performs

12  vital delivery and pickup of 70 percent of all freight moved

13  in the state, driving over 16 billion miles yearly to do so,

14  serving communities, schools, and businesses with dedication

15  and without fanfare every day, and

16         WHEREAS, Florida's trucking industry provides more than

17  450,000 jobs and contributes over $17 billion in wages each

18  year to Florida's workforce, and

19         WHEREAS, the trucking industry's dedication to

20  maintaining high standards to keep Florida moving contributes

21  to the strength of our transportation system and reflects the

22  spirit of Florida and America, and

23         WHEREAS, we are all indebted to the hard-working

24  drivers who embody a commitment to excellence, haul the loads,

25  and make those just-in-time deliveries, NOW, THEREFORE,

26  

27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

28  

29         That the Florida Senate acknowledges that without
