  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution commending highly qualified

  3         teachers and education professionals on their

  4         efforts to fulfill the promise of public

  5         education and prepare every child in Florida

  6         for success.

  7  

  8         WHEREAS, highest commendations are hereby extended to

  9  the highly qualified teachers and education professionals of

10  Florida for their commitment to students and learning as well

11  as for their efforts to fulfill the missions of public

12  education, and

13         WHEREAS, public education is a cornerstone of our

14  democracy, and

15         WHEREAS, public education's core missions include

16  preparing students for democratic citizenship, ensuring equal

17  opportunity, and providing a high-quality education for all

18  children, and

19         WHEREAS, the Florida Constitution supports these

20  missions by requiring a uniform, safe, secure, and

21  high-quality system of public schools, and

22         WHEREAS, Florida public schools are expected to fulfill

23  the missions of public education, and

24         WHEREAS, well-prepared, highly qualified teachers

25  provide students with the skills they need to become involved,

26  informed, and engaged citizens, and prepare students for

27  productive work and fulfilling lives, and

28         WHEREAS, research shows that teacher quality is the

29  single most important school variable affecting student

30  achievement and success, and

 1         WHEREAS, education professionals are the backbone of

 2  Florida public schools and an indispensable part of the school

 3  community, taking care of our children every day and providing

 4  them with the tools they need to succeed in Florida's schools

 5  and classrooms, and

 6         WHEREAS, research shows education professionals

 7  directly affect student learning, and

 8         WHEREAS, supporting and encouraging highly qualified

 9  teachers and education professionals is an important

10  investment for our children, our neighborhood public schools,

11  our communities, our state, and our collective future in the

12  global marketplace, and

13         WHEREAS, it is both proper and fitting for the Senate

14  to recognize Florida teachers and education professionals for

15  their fundamental and vital work, NOW, THEREFORE,

16  

17  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

18  

19         That the Florida Senate commends the accomplished

20  teachers and education professionals of Florida on their

21  commitment and dedication to public education and their

22  efforts to improve student learning, raise achievement, and

23  provide every student with a high-quality education.
