  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the City of Lauderdale

  3         Lakes, Broward County; amending section 3.13 of

  4         the Charter of the City of Lauderdale Lakes, to

  5         permit persons who are not city residents to

  6         serve on city boards and committees; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 3.13 of the Charter of the City of

12  Lauderdale Lakes is amended to read:

13         Section 3.13.  Boards, authorities and commissions. In

14  addition to the regular committees established under Section

15  4.01(1) [sic], the city commission may create by ordinance

16  boards, authorities and commissions and may specify the

17  membership and duties thereof. All persons serving on boards,

18  authorities and commissions shall be residents or employee of

19  Lauderdale Lakes and shall take an oath of office as provided

20  in section 3.05. No person shall serve on more than two (2)

21  such boards, authorities, or commissions, and members of such

22  boards shall serve without compensation but may receive

23  necessary expenses if approved by the city commission. Such

24  boards, authorities and commissioners shall be part of the

25  municipal government and shall, whenever practicable, utilize

26  the services available through the regular departments,

27  offices and agencies of the city, including the legal officer,

28  as authorized by the city commission.

29         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

30  law.
