1 Senate Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing May 8, 2007, as
3 "Children's Mental Health Awareness Day" in the
4 State of Florida.

6 WHEREAS, May is National Mental Health Month, and
7 WHEREAS, addressing the complex needs of children,
8 youth, and families for mental health services is fundamental
9 to this state's future, and
10 WHEREAS, early intervention and comprehensive and
11 coordinated mental health services for children, youth, and
12 families are critical, and
13 WHEREAS, communities must meet the challenge of
14 providing an integrated and person-centered system of support
15 for the families of children diagnosed with mental illness,
16 and
17 WHEREAS, multiple state agencies, including the
18 Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of
19 Education, the Department of Health, Department of Juvenile
20 Justice, and the Agency for Health Care Administration, work
21 with municipalities, counties, local community agencies, and
22 mental health professionals to serve children and adolescents
23 by caring for the mental health needs of children, youth, and
24 families in this state, and
25 WHEREAS, Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is
26 intended to raise awareness of the public about the
27 fundamental necessity for effective year-round programs for
28 children and youth with mental health needs and their
29 families, NOW, THEREFORE,

31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

1 That the Florida Senate, extends its best wishes and
2 appreciation to all who work with and care for the children of
3 Florida and recognizes May 8, 2007, as "Children's Mental
