  1                        Senate Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing Samuel L. Brewer and

  3         Darrell Johnson, Sr., on their induction into

  4         the International Towing & Recovery 2006 Hall

  5         of Fame.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, Samuel L. Brewer of Sam's Wrecker Service in

  8  Brooksville, Florida, and Darrell Johnson, Sr., of Johnson's

  9  Wrecker Service, Inc., in Orlando, Florida, were two of nine

10  individuals inducted this year into the International Towing &

11  Recovery Hall of Fame in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and

12         WHEREAS, induction into the ITRHFM Hall of Fame

13  recognizes an individual's demonstrated years of dedication

14  and hard work within the towing and recovery industry and his

15  or her substantial contributions to the industry, and

16         WHEREAS, Samuel L. Brewer specializes in light and

17  medium duty towing and has long been active in the

18  Professional Wrecker Operators of Florida, serving as

19  President of the organization for 6 years, as Chairman of its

20  Legislative Committee for 8 years, and as a member of its

21  executive board for 17 years, and

22         WHEREAS, currently Sam is also President of the Towing

23  and Recovery Association of America, a trustee of the

24  International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame & Museum, and

25  received the organization's Citizen of the Year Award in 1998

26  and its Lifetime Leadership Award in 2003, and

27         WHEREAS, Darrell Johnson, Sr., holds certifications in

28  light, medium, heavy, and ultra heavy duty towing through the

29  Professional Wrecker Operators of Florida, was one of the

30  founding members of that organization, and has worked to pass

 1  laws for the betterment of the towing and recovery industry,

 2  and

 3         WHEREAS, his firm, Johnson's Wrecker Service, Inc.,

 4  specializes in law enforcement response and recovery work, and

 5  he is active as a sponsor of Little League teams and other

 6  organizations including The Russell Home, the American Cancer

 7  Society, Shops with Cops, Shriners, and Children's Safety

 8  Village, NOW, THEREFORE,

 9  

10  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

11  

12         That the Senate recognizes and commends Samuel L.

13  Brewer and Darrell Johnson, Sr., on their leadership, business

14  success, public service, and induction into the International

15  Towing & Recovery 2006 Hall of Fame.

16         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution,

17  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Mr.

18  Brewer and Mr. Johnson as a token of the sentiments of the

19  Florida Senate.
