11  The Committee on Education Pre-K - 12 (Wilson) recommended the
12  following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 2, lines 5-17, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  student to determine the reasons for the
18  student's decision to terminate school enrollment and actions
19  that could be taken to keep the student in school. The student
20  must be informed of opportunities to continue his or her
21  education in a different environment, including, but not
22  limited to, adult education and GED test preparation.
23  Additionally, the student must complete a survey in a format
24  prescribed by the Department of Education to provide data on
25  student reasons for terminating enrollment and actions taken
26  by schools to keep students enrolled. The school must also
27  assign a counselor or other school personnel to the student
28  who shall serve as a resource for educational information
29  until the student attains the age of 18.
