  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to workforce innovation;

  3         amending s. 445.007, F.S.; authorizing a

  4         regional workforce board to be a direct

  5         provider of certain services, subject to

  6         approval by the board of county commissioners;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Subsection (5) of section 445.007, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         445.007  Regional workforce boards.--

14         (5)  Workforce Florida, Inc., shall implement a

15  training program for the regional workforce boards to

16  familiarize board members with the state's workforce

17  development goals and strategies. The regional workforce board

18  shall designate all local service providers and may shall not

19  transfer this authority to a third party. In order to exercise

20  independent oversight, The regional workforce board may shall

21  not be a direct provider of intake, assessment, eligibility

22  determinations, or other direct provider services, subject to

23  the approval of the local board of county commissioners.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.
