  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to safety at school bus stops;

  3         requiring each school district to have a plan

  4         to improve safety at school bus stops;

  5         providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8  

  9         Section 1.  Each school district shall have a plan to

10  improve safety at school bus stops in the district.

11         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.

13          STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
14                              SB 428

16  The committee substitute eliminates the original bill's
    requirement that the Department of Education assess school bus
17  stop safety; rather, school districts must develop a school
    bus stop safety plan. The committee substitute also eliminates
18  the requirement for school districts to report bus stop safety
    information to the Department of Education.
