  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Crime Stoppers Trust

  3         Fund; amending s. 16.555, F.S.; authorizing the

  4         Department of Legal Affairs to use moneys from

  5         the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund to pay salaries,

  6         benefits, and other expenses of the department;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 16.555, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         16.555  Crime Stoppers Trust Fund; rulemaking.--

14         (3)(a)  The department shall establish a trust fund for

15  the purpose of grant administration to fund Crime Stoppers and

16  their crime fighting programs within the units of a local

17  government of the state.

18         (b)  Notwithstanding any provision in this section to

19  the contrary, moneys in the trust fund may also be used to pay

20  for salaries, benefits, and other expenses of the department.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

22  law.
