  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to judges; amending s. 26.031,

  3         F.S.; increasing the number of circuit court

  4         judges in certain circuits; amending s. 34.022,

  5         F.S.; increasing the number of county court

  6         judges in certain counties; amending s. 35.06,

  7         F.S.; increasing the number of judges in the

  8         second and fourth district courts of appeal;

  9         specifying the date on which the terms begin

10         for the circuit and county court judicial

11         offices created by the act; providing an

12         effective date.

14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

16         Section 1.  Section 26.031, Florida Statutes, is

17  amended to read:

18         26.031  Judicial circuits; number of judges.--The

19  number of circuit judges in each circuit shall be as follows:

23         Section 3.  Effective January 8, 2008, section 35.06,

24  Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

25         35.06  Organization of district courts of appeal.--A

26  district court of appeal shall be organized in each of the

27  five appellate districts to be named District Court of Appeal,

28  .... District.  The number of judges of each district court of

29  appeal shall be as follows:

30         (1)  In the first district there shall be 15 judges.

 1         (2)  In the second district there shall be 15 14

 2  judges.

 3         (3)  In the third district there shall be 11 judges.

 4         (4)  In the fourth district there shall be 13 12

 5  judges.

 6         (5)  In the fifth district there shall be 10 judges.

 7         Section 4.  The terms of the circuit and county court

 8  judicial offices created in sections 1 and 2 of this act shall

 9  begin on January 8, 2008.

10         Section 5.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.

13                          SENATE SUMMARY

14    Increases the number of circuit court judges in certain
      circuits, the number of county court judges in certain
15    counties, and the number of judges in the second and
      fourth district courts of appeal.
