11  The Committee on Education Pre-K - 12 (Deutch) recommended the
12  following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         Delete everything after the enacting clause
16  
17  and insert:  
18         Section 1.  (1)(a)  By January 1, 2009, the Department
19  of Health shall adopt a rule adding the human papillomavirus
20  to the list of communicable diseases set forth in s. 1003.22,
21  Florida Statutes, for which immunization must be required
22  before a female student may be admitted to the 8th grade of a
23  public or private school.
24         (b)  The rule must include procedures for exempting a
25  female student from the immunization requirement.
26         (c)  The rule must contain provisions to notify the
27  parent or guardian of the female student that, after receiving
28  information about the human papillomavirus immunization, the
29  parent or guardian may, in writing, elect to refuse to allow
30  the student to receive the human papillomavirus immunization
31  and that the parent or guardian may refuse the immunization

Florida Senate - 2007 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT Bill No. SB 660 Barcode 104232 1 without disclosing a reason for doing so. 2 (2) Beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, each 3 public or private middle school in this state must provide to 4 female students who are entering the 6th grade, and to the 5 parent or guardian of such students, information concerning 6 the connection between the human papillomavirus and cervical 7 cancer and that a vaccine for preventing human papillomavirus 8 is available to the student during the school year in order 9 for the student to be admitted into the 8th grade. 10 (3) Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, a female 11 student who is entering the 7th grade may not be admitted to 12 any private or public school in this state until the student 13 submits to the school a certificate of immunization showing 14 that the student has commenced the immunization protocol for 15 the human papillomavirus or a written statement, signed by the 16 parent or guardian of the student indicating that, after 17 receiving information about the human papillomavirus, the 18 parent or guardian has elected for the female student not to 19 receive the immunization. 20 (4) Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, a 21 principal or any other person in charge of a public or private 22 school may not knowingly admit a female student into the 8th 23 grade until the student submits to the school a certification 24 of immunization for the prevention of the human papillomavirus 25 showing the protocol for the immunization has been completed 26 or a written statement, signed by the parent or guardian of 27 the student indicating that, after receiving information about 28 the human papillomavirus, the parent or guardian has elected 29 for the female student not to receive the immunization. 30 (5) The Department of Education, in consultation with 31 the Department of Health, shall prescribe the content of the 2 9:50 AM 03/19/07 s0660c-ed30-tk6
