11 The Committee on Education Pre-K - 12 (Wise) recommended the
12 following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 Delete everything after the enacting clause
16
17 and insert:
18 Section 1. (1) No later than January 1, 2008, the
19 Department of Health shall adopt a rule adding the human
20 papillomavirus to the list of communicable diseases for which
21 immunizations are recommended.
22 (2) Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, the
23 parent or guardian of each public and private school student
24 entering grade 6 for whom the human papillomavirus vaccine is
25 approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration,
26 must be provided information by the school concerning the
27 connection between the human papillomavirus and cervical
28 cancer and that a vaccine that helps prevent human
29 papillomavirus infection is available and recommended to be
30 given to females before they enter grade 6.
31 (3) The information required to be provided to the

1 parents or guardians of the students for whom the human
2 papillomavirus vaccine is approved and recommended shall be
3 prescribed by the Department of Health.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.

11 and insert:
12 A bill to be entitled
13 An act relating to the human papillomavirus;
14 requiring the Department of Health to adopt a
15 rule adding the human papillomavirus to the
16 list of communicable diseases for which
17 immunization is recommended; requiring that
18 certain parents or guardians must be provided
19 information concerning the human
20 papillomavirus; requiring the Department of
21 Health to prescribe the information; providing
22 an effective date.
