9 | Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

11 | That the following amendment to Section 2 of Article I of |
12 | the State Constitution is agreed to and shall be submitted to |
13 | the electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next |
14 | general election or at an earlier special election specifically |
15 | authorized by law for that purpose: |

18 | SECTION 2. Basic rights.--All natural persons, female and |
19 | male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable |
20 | rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and |
21 | liberty, to pursue happiness, to be rewarded for industry, and |
22 | to acquire, possess, and protect property; except that the |
23 | ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real |
24 | property by aliens ineligible for citizenship may be regulated |
25 | or prohibited by law. No person shall be deprived of any right |
26 | because of race, religion, national origin, or physical |
27 | disability. |
28 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be |
29 | placed on the ballot: |

32 | BASIC PROPERTY RIGHTS.--Proposing an amendment to the State |
33 | Constitution to include aliens ineligible for citizenship under |
34 | the basic right to acquire, possess, and protect property by |
35 | removing a limitation that authorizes the regulation or |
36 | prohibition by law of the ownership, inheritance, disposition, |
37 | and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for |
38 | citizenship. |
