1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to specialty license plates;
3 amending ss. 320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.;
4 creating a Veterans Service Organization
5 license plate; providing for an annual use fee;
6 providing for the distribution of annual use
7 fees received from the sale of such plates;
8 providing an effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
11
12 Section 1. Paragraph (iii) is added to subsection (4)
13 of section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read:
14 320.08056 Specialty license plates.--
15 (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall
16 be collected for the appropriate specialty license plates:
17 (iii) Veterans Service Organization license plate,
18 $15.
19 Section 2. Subsection (61) is added to section
20 320.08058, Florida Statutes, to read:
21 320.08058 Specialty license plates.--
22 (61) VETERANS SERVICE ORGANIZATION LICENSE PLATES.--
23 (a) Notwithstanding s. 320.08053, the department shall
24 develop a series of veterans service organization license
25 plates as provided in this section. Veterans Service
26 Organization license plates must bear the colors and design
27 approved by the department. The word "Florida" must appear at
28 the top of the plate, and the name of the respective veterans
29 service organization must appear at the bottom of the plate.
30 The appropriate emblem for the particular veterans service
31 organization must appear on the left side of the plate and be

1 approximately 3 inches in diameter. The Veterans Service
2 Organization license plate shall be developed for the
3 following:
4 1. The American Legion.
5 2. The Disabled American Veterans.
6 3. The Veterans of Foreign Wars.
7 4. Any other veterans service organization that is
8 congressionally chartered or recognized by the United States
9 Department of Veterans Affairs.
10 (b) The department shall retain all revenues from the
11 sale of such plates until all startup costs for developing and
12 issuing the plates have been recovered. Thereafter, 60 percent
13 of the annual use fees shall be remitted to the appropriate
14 organization to support its veterans and military activities,
15 programs, and projects within the state. The remaining 40
16 percent shall be deposited into the State Homes for Veterans
17 Trust Fund and used solely to construct, operate, and maintain
18 domiciliary and nursing homes for veterans subject to the
19 requirements of chapter 216.
20 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
