11  Senator Margolis moved the following amendment:
12  
13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         Delete everything after the enacting clause
15  
16  and insert:  
17         Section 1.  The Department of Children and Family
18  Services shall establish a structure by which the department
19  shall:
20         (1)  Provide services to immigrant survivors of human
21  trafficking, domestic violence, and other serious crimes,
22  during the interim period between the time the survivor
23  applies for a visa and receives such visa from the United
24  States Department of Homeland Security or receives
25  certification from the United States Department of Health and
26  Human Services;
27         (2)  Ensure that immigrant survivors of serious crimes
28  are eligible to receive existing state and local benefits and
29  services to the same extent that refugees receive those
30  benefits and services;
31         (3)  Ensure that immigrant survivors of serious crimes

Florida Senate - 2007 SENATOR AMENDMENT Bill No. HB 7181 Barcode 294230 1 have access to state-funded services that are equivalent to 2 the federal programs that provide cash, medical services, and 3 social service for refugees; 4 (4) Provide survivors of serious crimes with medical 5 care, mental health care, and basic assistance in order to 6 help them secure housing, food, and supportive services; 7 (5) Create a state-funded component of the cash, 8 medical, and social services programs for refugees for the 9 purpose of serving immigrant survivors during the temporary 10 period while they wait for federal processing to be completed; 11 (6) Provide that a sworn statement by a survivor is 12 sufficient evidence for the purposes of determining 13 eligibility if that statement is supported by at least one 14 item of additional evidence, including, but not limited to: 15 (a) Police and court records; 16 (b) News articles; 17 (c) Documentation from a professional agency; 18 (d) Physical evidence; or 19 (e) A statement from an individual having knowledge of 20 the circumstances providing the basis for the claim; 21 (7) Develop a public-awareness program for employers 22 and other organizations that may come into contact with 23 immigrant survivors of human trafficking in order to provide 24 education and raise awareness of the problem. 25 Section 2.
