A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Department of Juvenile Justice;
3amending s. 984.01, F.S.; providing requirements for
4directing the funding and delivery of services of
5specified programs for children and families in need of
6services; providing an effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (2) of
11section 984.01, Florida Statutes, to read:
12     984.01  Purposes and intent; personnel standards and
13screening.--
14     (2)  The Department of Juvenile Justice or the Department
15of Children and Family Services, as appropriate, may contract
16with the Federal Government, other state departments and
17agencies, county and municipal governments and agencies, public
18and private agencies, and private individuals and corporations
19in carrying out the purposes of, and the responsibilities
20established in, this chapter.
21     (d)  The Department of Juvenile Justice shall ensure that
22an equitable percentage of all funding for nonresidential
23children and families in need of services programs be used to
24fund prevention resource programs in areas with a high volume of
25juvenile arrests. Additionally, the recipient of such funds
26shall demonstrate the inclusion of local nontraditional
27delinquency prevention service providers, such as grassroots
28organizations and community and faith-based organizations, in
29the contracting and delivery of all programs in such areas.
30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
