12 (Dockery) recommended the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 Delete everything after the enacting clause

17 and insert:
18 Section 1. Subsection (8) of section 324.021, Florida
19 Statutes, is amended to read:
20 324.021 Definitions; minimum insurance required.--The
21 following words and phrases when used in this chapter shall,
22 for the purpose of this chapter, have the meanings
23 respectively ascribed to them in this section, except in those
24 instances where the context clearly indicates a different
25 meaning:
26 (8) MOTOR VEHICLE LIABILITY POLICY.--Any owner's or
27 operator's policy of liability insurance furnished as proof of
28 financial responsibility pursuant to s. 324.031, insuring such
29 owner or operator against loss from liability for bodily
30 injury, death, and property damage arising out of the
31 ownership, maintenance, or use of a motor vehicle in not less

1 than the limits described in subsection (7) and conforming to
2 the requirements of s. 324.151, issued by any insurance
3 company authorized to do business in this state. The owner,
4 registrant, or operator of a motor vehicle is exempt from
5 providing such proof of financial responsibility if he or she
6 is a member of the United States Armed Forces and is called to
7 or on active duty outside this state or the United States, or
8 if the owner of the vehicle is the dependent spouse of such
9 active duty member and is also residing with the active duty
10 member at the place of posting of such member, and the vehicle
11 is primarily maintained at such place of posting. The
12 exemption provided by this subsection applies only as long as
13 the member of the armed forces is on such active duty outside
14 this state or the United States and the owner complies with
15 the security requirements of the state or any possession or
16 territory of the United States where the member is posted.
17 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
