| 5 | WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Metropolitan Area now has a |
| 6 | population of over 1 million, making it the largest city in the |
| 7 | State of Florida, and |
| 8 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville has had 38 years of success with its |
| 9 | consolidated city/county government, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville has a major United States Navy and |
| 11 | United States Marine presence with Naval Air Station Mayport, |
| 12 | Naval Air Station Jacksonville, the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, and |
| 13 | Blount Island United States Marine Corps Installation, and |
| 14 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville has been chosen for a new National |
| 15 | Veterans Cemetery to provide a dignified and lasting memorial |
| 16 | for our country's heroes, and |
| 17 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville is the home of the National Football |
| 18 | League's Jacksonville Jaguars, and |
| 19 | WHEREAS, Super Bowl XXXIX was held in Jacksonville on |
| 20 | February 6, 2005, and |
| 21 | WHEREAS, Florida's First Coast is the home of the |
| 22 | Professional Golfers' Association Tour and the Association of |
| 23 | Tennis Professionals, and |
| 24 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville has outstanding natural resources, |
| 25 | including the Timucuan National Preserve, the St. Johns River, |
| 26 | and miles of tranquil coastline, and |
| 27 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville is a leading city in the insurance, |
| 28 | health care, and manufacturing markets and is one of the largest |
| 29 | vehicle import-export centers on the East Coast, and |
| 30 | WHEREAS, Jacksonville is home to one of the nation's |
| 31 | fastest growing airports, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 33 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

| 36 | That March 15, 2007, be recognized as "Jacksonville Day" in |
| 37 | Tallahassee. |
