House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing March 27, 2007, as "Professional
3Golfers' Association of America Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, the Professional Golfers' Association of America
6(PGA) was founded in New York City on April 10, 1916, with 35
7charter members and, today, is the world's largest working
8sports organization, consisting of more than 28,000 men and
9women golf professionals who are dedicated to the growth of the
10game of golf, and
11     WHEREAS, the 1,300 golf courses in Florida host more than
1226,000 tournament events annually, attracting 2.11 million
13spectators, and
14     WHEREAS, the golf industry in Florida is a major
15contributor to the economy and to the well-being of the state,
16providing employment for an estimated 72,000 people, raising
17property values, helping to protect and enhance the environment,
18and generating $120 million in tax revenues annually, and
19     WHEREAS, the PGA in Florida makes enormous contributions to
20a wide range of community and charitable organizations, conducts
21junior golf camps for tens of thousands of youngsters, holds the
22Special Olympics National Golf Tournament and the National
23Minority College Golf Championship, and conducts community
24outreach programs that encourage the participation of anyone who
25enjoys the game of golf, NOW, THEREFORE,

27Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28Florida:

30     That March 27, 2007, is recognized as "Professional
31Golfers' Association of America Day" in Florida, and the PGA is
32commended for its promotion of the game of golf and the
33resultant positive impact within the state.
34     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that residents of and visitors to
35the state are urged to take an afternoon to enjoy a round of
36golf.
