1	House Resolution
2	A resolution designating January 4, 2008, as "Women in the
3	Arts Day."

5	WHEREAS, women, as artists and educators, are a guiding
6	force in Florida's Art Community, and
7	WHEREAS, Florida's Art Community is aided by involved women
8	and has grown tremendously with the growth of numerous cultural
9	organizations and performing arts centers, and
10	WHEREAS, women in the arts educate our youngest citizens in
11	our school system, as well as the general public, through
12	various art classes, art shows, touring galleries, and hands-on
13	learning centers, and
14	WHEREAS, art education provides hope, encouragement,
15	knowledge, solid values, and the opportunity for children to see
16	qualities within themselves that would likely go unnoticed, and
17	WHEREAS, women in the arts produce exquisite art and crafts
18	and their work can spark an interest and open doors of
19	possibility for countless children, NOW, THEREFORE,
20
21	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
22	Florida:

24	That the Florida House of Representatives designates
25	January 4, 2008, as "Women in the Arts Day."
