1	House Resolution
2	A resolution recognizing and commending the Tampa Bay
3	Performing Arts Center on the occasion of its 20th
4	anniversary.

6	WHEREAS, since its opening in 1987, the Tampa Bay
7	Performing Arts Center has provided a beautiful venue for a
8	variety of world-class events for patrons of the performing
9	arts, including one of the nation's leading Broadway series, the
10	production of grand operas, and numerous concerts and other
11	performances, and
12	WHEREAS, during the last 20 years, the Tampa Bay Performing
13	Arts Center has entertained nearly 10 million patrons and has
14	become the largest performing arts center in the Southeast and
15	the largest south of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and
16	WHEREAS, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center expanded its
17	educational efforts in 2004 by opening the Dr. Pallavi Patel
18	Performing Arts Conservatory for the purpose of offering
19	instruction in music, theater, dance, and the digital arts to
20	students of all ages, and
21	WHEREAS, over the past 20 years more than 860,000 children
22	have attended performances at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts
23	Center through its On-School Time program, many of them
24	experiencing a theatrical performance for the first time, and
25	WHEREAS, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center has an annual
26	economic impact on the State of Florida of $94 million, with
27	approximately 80 percent of the funding for the center being
28	provided by ticket sales, rentals, and other income and the
29	remaining funds coming from government, corporations,
30	foundations, and 5,700 individual donors, and
31	WHEREAS, the community support for the Tampa Bay Performing
32	Arts Center and the Dr. Pallavi Patel Performing Arts
33	Conservatory is strong and committed, as evidenced by the
34	support of approximately 650 volunteers donating over 75,000
35	hours annually, NOW, THEREFORE,

37	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
38	Florida:

40	That the House of Representatives recognizes and commends
41	the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center on the occasion of its 20th
42	anniversary and encourages the residents of the State of Florida
43	to support the performing arts not only at the center but
44	throughout the state.
45	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
46	presented to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center as a tangible
47	token of the sentiments expressed herein.
