2A resolution designating April 2007 as "Plasma Protein
3Therapies Month" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, tens of thousands of Americans rely on plasma
6protein therapies and recombinant analogs to treat rare, life-
7threatening genetic and autoimmune disorders, and
8     WHEREAS, hundreds of Floridians have been diagnosed with
9such rare genetic and autoimmune disorders, which include
10hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, primary
11immunodeficiency diseases, and alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency,
12and
13     WHEREAS, treatment options for patients having these
14disorders should include a full range of plasma protein
15therapies provided by health care providers experienced in the
16treatment of these rare disorders, and through pharmaceutical
17and home-supported services, to help ensure the best possible
18clinical outcomes, and
19     WHEREAS, multidisciplinary care provided to patients having
20these life-threatening genetic and autoimmune disorders has
21resulted in significant improvements in patient outcomes and has
22enhanced the quality of life for this patient population, NOW,
23THEREFORE,

25Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
26Florida:

28     That April 2007 is designated as "Plasma Protein Therapies
29Month" in Florida to raise awareness of the success of such
30therapies in the treatment of rare, life-threatening genetic and
31autoimmune disorders and to encourage greater access to such
32therapies for patients in this state.
