| 5 | WHEREAS, the aviation industry is one of the cornerstones |
| 6 | of Florida's economy, with 20 commercial service airports and |
| 7 | 108 general aviation airports that are open to the public and |
| 8 | more than 600 private airports, and |
| 9 | WHEREAS, Florida's airports provide nearly $90 billion |
| 10 | annually in economic activity, and its aviation industry |
| 11 | supports over one million jobs that generate more than $26 |
| 12 | billion in annual payroll, and |
| 13 | WHEREAS, Florida has the largest flight training industry |
| 14 | in the United States, and |
| 15 | WHEREAS, more than 85 percent of all aircraft operations in |
| 16 | Florida are flown with general aviation aircraft, and |
| 17 | WHEREAS, each year, Florida's general aviation aircraft |
| 18 | bring 9 million visitors to the state, and its general aviation |
| 19 | airports house 14,000 aircraft, comprising 6 percent of the |
| 20 | nation's general aviation fleet, and accommodating more than 7 |
| 21 | million takeoffs and landings yearly, ranking Florida second in |
| 22 | the nation in this area, and |
| 23 | WHEREAS, without general aviation airports Florida's busy |
| 24 | commercial service airports would be overwhelmed with air |
| 25 | traffic, making air travel to and around the state nearly |
| 26 | impossible, and |
| 27 | WHEREAS, Florida is the host of the nation's second largest |
| 28 | general aviation convention, the Sun'n Fun Fly-In Convention in |
| 29 | Lakeland for one week each year, which attracts thousands of |
| 30 | aircraft and hundreds of thousands of aviation enthusiasts to |
| 31 | the state, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 36 | That the members of the Florida House of Representatives |
| 37 | enthusiastically acknowledge and recognize April 17-23, 2007, as |
| 38 | "General Aviation Week" in Florida. |
