1	House Resolution
2	A resolution recognizing and commending the Florida
3	Highway Patrol Auxiliary on the occasion of its 50th
4	anniversary.

6	WHEREAS, in 1955, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary was
7	formed in cooperation with the American Legion and authorized on
8	May 14, 1957, by an act signed by Governor Leroy Collins, and
9	WHEREAS, the primary mission of the Florida Highway Patrol
10	Auxiliary is to efficiently and effectively assist the Florida
11	Highway Patrol in the performance of its duties through
12	volunteers, and
13	WHEREAS, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, in addition
14	to its efforts on behalf of Florida Highway Patrol troopers and
15	other law enforcement officers, provides voluntary assistance to
16	state government and the citizens of Florida, as needed, and
17	WHEREAS, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary provides
18	essential assistance at the Florida Highway Patrol
19	communications centers by serving as call takers during times of
20	natural disaster, and
21	WHEREAS, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary is the
22	largest state auxiliary police program in the United States of
23	America, and on May 14, 2007, celebrates its 50th anniversary,
24	and
25	WHEREAS, the unselfish devotion of the members of the
26	Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary often and significantly comes
27	as a sacrifice of home and family life and is all the more
28	exemplary for that reason, NOW, THEREFORE,

30	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
31	Florida:

33	That the House of Representatives recognizes and commends
34	the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary on the occasion of its 50th
35	anniversary and for its untiring service and loyalty to the
36	citizens of Florida and the Florida Highway Patrol.
