House Resolution
2A resolution recognizing and commending the Florida
3Highway Patrol Auxiliary on the occasion of its 50th
4anniversary.

6     WHEREAS, in 1955, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary was
7formed in cooperation with the American Legion and authorized on
8May 14, 1957, by an act signed by Governor Leroy Collins, and
9     WHEREAS, the primary mission of the Florida Highway Patrol
10Auxiliary is to efficiently and effectively assist the Florida
11Highway Patrol in the performance of its duties through
12volunteers, and
13     WHEREAS, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, in addition
14to its efforts on behalf of Florida Highway Patrol troopers and
15other law enforcement officers, provides voluntary assistance to
16state government and the citizens of Florida, as needed, and
17     WHEREAS, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary provides
18essential assistance at the Florida Highway Patrol
19communications centers by serving as call takers during times of
20natural disaster, and
21     WHEREAS, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary is the
22largest state auxiliary police program in the United States of
23America, and on May 14, 2007, celebrates its 50th anniversary,
24and
25     WHEREAS, the unselfish devotion of the members of the
26Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary often and significantly comes
27as a sacrifice of home and family life and is all the more
28exemplary for that reason, NOW, THEREFORE,

30Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
31Florida:

33     That the House of Representatives recognizes and commends
34the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary on the occasion of its 50th
35anniversary and for its untiring service and loyalty to the
36citizens of Florida and the Florida Highway Patrol.
