2 | A resolution recognizing the New World School of the Arts |
3 | on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. |

5 | WHEREAS, the New World School of the Arts was created in |
6 | 1986 by the Legislature as a "Florida Center of Excellence" in |
7 | the visual and performing arts, and |
8 | WHEREAS, the New World School of the Arts holds an educational |
9 | partnership with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade |
10 | College, and the University of Florida and offers a comprehensive |
11 | program of artistic training and academic development that prepares |
12 | graduates for careers in dance, music, theater, musical theater, |
13 | and the visual arts, offering high school diplomas, the Associate |
14 | of Arts Degree, and the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts |
15 | Degrees, and |
16 | WHEREAS, alumni of the New World School of the Arts include |
17 | winners of the Tony Award, the Latin Grammy Award, the |
18 | Presidential Scholars in the Arts Award, the National Foundation |
19 | for Advancement in the Arts Competition, the Carbonell Award, |
20 | the National Scholastic Arts Awards Portfolio, National Gold Key |
21 | Awards, and a host of other artistic and academic honors, and |
22 | WHEREAS, alumni of the New World School of the Arts perform |
23 | on Broadway and in prestigious dance companies and orchestras |
24 | and exhibit their artistic creations in museums and galleries |
25 | internationally, and |
26 | WHEREAS, the achievements of this outstanding conservatory |
27 | have placed the New World School of the Arts in the highest |
28 | echelons of arts institutions, setting an exemplary standard in |
29 | education and rendering the school a shining star for all of |
30 | South Florida, for the entire state, and for the nation, NOW, |

36 | That the New World School of the Arts is recognized and |
37 | celebrated for 20 years of artistic excellence and outstanding |
38 | educational contributions in this state, across the nation, and |
39 | around the world. |
