House Resolution
2A resolution commending Travis Walker on winning the
3International Boxing Association Americas Heavyweight
4Title.

6     WHEREAS, Travis Walker was born in Tallahassee on June 22,
71979, and played football for Rickards High School, and
8     WHEREAS, known professionally as "Freight Train," Travis
9Walker took up boxing less than a decade ago, became the 2003
10National Golden Gloves Super Heavyweight Champion, and became a
11professional boxer in 2004, having since scored numerous
12impressive wins, including seventeen knockouts, and
13     WHEREAS, Travis Walker remained undefeated after more than
14twenty fights and, after managing a knockdown, scored one of his
15biggest wins in 2006 with a majority decision over previously
16undefeated, three-time national champion Jason Estrada, and
17     WHEREAS, on April 6, 2007, Travis Walker fought George
18Garcia, another undefeated fighter who had beaten Mr. Walker as
19a star amateur, and was victorious, and
20     WHEREAS, this win earned Travis Walker the International
21Boxing Association Americas Heavyweight Title, NOW, THEREFORE,

23Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
24Florida:

26     That Travis Walker, a sports champion, is commended for his
27impressive career in boxing, is heartily congratulated for
28earning the International Boxing Association Americas
29Heavyweight Title, and is offered best wishes in his future
30endeavors.
31     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
32presented to Travis Walker as a tangible token of the sentiments
33expressed herein.
