A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the United States Marine Corps license
3plate; amending s. 320.08058, F.S.; revising authorized
4allocation of the annual use fee; providing an effective
5date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
8
9     Section 1.  Subsection (29) of section 320.08058, Florida
10Statutes, is amended to read:
11     320.08058  Specialty license plates.--
12     (29)  UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS LICENSE PLATES.--
13     (a)  The department shall develop a United States Marine
14Corps license plate as provided in this section. The word
15"Florida" must appear at the top center of the plate, and the
16words "Marine Corps" must appear at the bottom center of the
17plate. The United States Marine Corps logo, 3 inches in
18diameter, must appear on the left side centered top to bottom of
19the plate in proper colors.
20     (b)  The department shall distribute the United States
21Marine Corps license plate annual use fees as provided in this
22paragraph. in the following manner:
23     1.  The first $50,000 collected annually shall be
24distributed to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Inc.
25     2.  Any remaining fees collected annually shall be
26distributed as follows:
27     a.  Thirty-five percent shall be deposited in the State
28Homes for Veterans Trust Fund and must be used solely for the
29purpose of constructing, operating, and maintaining domiciliary
30and nursing homes for veterans subject to the requirements of
31chapter 216.
32     b.2.  Sixty-five percent Any additional fees collected
33annually shall be distributed to deposited in the Marine Corps
34Scholarship Foundation, Inc., successor to the USMC
35Tag/Scholarship Fund, Inc., which shall use the fees to fund
36scholarships and assist Marine Corps Junior ROTC and Young
37Marine programs of this state. The foundation shall develop a
38plan to distribute the funds to recipients nominated by
39residents of the state to receive scholarships, and to the
40Marine Corps Junior ROTC and Young Marine programs in the state.
41     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
