11  The Committee on Ethics and Elections (Rich) recommended the
12  following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 3, between lines 27 and 28,
16  
17  insert:  
18         Section 2.  Subsection (3) of section 101.75, Florida
19  Statutes, is created to read:
20         101.75  Municipal elections; change of dates for
21  cause.--
22         (3)  Notwithstanding any provision of local law, for
23  any municipality whose election is scheduled to be held in
24  March, 2008, the governing body of the municipality,
25  notwithstanding any municipal charter provision, may, by
26  ordinance, move the date of the general municipal election in
27  2008 and in each subsequent year which is a multiple of 4 to
28  the date concurrent with the presidential preference primary.
29  The dates for qualifying for the general municipal election
30  moved by the passage of such an ordinance shall be
31  specifically provided for in the ordinance, and shall run for
