A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to Medicare supplement policies; amending
3s. 627.672, F.S.; revising an exclusion from a definition
4of the term "Medicare supplement policy"; providing an
5effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9     Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 627.672, Florida
10Statutes, is amended to read:
11     627.672  Definitions.--For the purposes of ss. 627.671-
12627.671-627.675:
13     (1)  A "Medicare supplement policy" is a health insurance
14policy or other health benefit plan offered by a private entity
15to individuals who are entitled to have payments for health care
16costs made under Medicare, Title XVIII of the Social Security
17Act ("Medicare"), as presently constituted and as may later be
18amended, which provides reimbursement for expenses incurred for
19services and items for which payment may be made under Medicare
20but which expenses are not reimbursable by reason of the
21applicability of deductibles, coinsurance amounts, or other
22limitations imposed by Medicare. The term does not include any
23such policy or plan of one or more employers or labor
24organizations, or of the trustees of a fund established by one
25or more employers or labor organizations, or a combination
26thereof, for employees or former employees, or a combination
27thereof, of the employers or for employees or former employees,
28or a combination thereof, or for members or former members, or a
29combination thereof, of the labor organizations.
30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
