A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to Medicare supplement policies; amending
3s. 627.672, F.S.; revising the definition of the term
4"Medicare supplement policy" to exclude a health insurance
5policy or other health benefit plan offered by one or more
6employers to employees or former employees; providing a
7limitation; providing an effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11     Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 627.672, Florida
12Statutes, is amended to read:
13     627.672  Definitions.--For the purposes of ss. 627.671-
14627.671-627.675:
15     (1)  A "Medicare supplement policy" is a health insurance
16policy or other health benefit plan offered by a private entity
17to individuals who are entitled to have payments for health care
18costs made under Medicare, Title XVIII of the Social Security
19Act ("Medicare"), as presently constituted and as may later be
20amended, which provides reimbursement for expenses incurred for
21services and items for which payment may be made under Medicare
22but which expenses are not reimbursable by reason of the
23applicability of deductibles, coinsurance amounts, or other
24limitations imposed by Medicare. The term does not include any
25such policy or plan of one or more employers that have at least
2650 employees at issue or labor organizations, or of the trustees
27of a fund established by one or more employers or labor
28organizations, or a combination thereof, for employees or former
29employees, or a combination thereof, or for members or former
30members, or a combination thereof, of the labor organizations
31if, upon termination of eligibility, group members age 65 or
32older are offered continuation of coverage under the group plan
33or a conversion policy with the same benefits as a Medicare
34supplement policy.
35     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
