11 The Conference Committee on CS for SB 14-C recommended the
12 following amendment:

14 Conference Committee Amendment (with title amendment)
15 Delete everything after the enacting clause

17 and insert:
18 Section 1. Subsection (12) of section 1004.445,
19 Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
20 1004.445 Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr., Alzheimer's Center and
21 Research Institute.--
22 (12) Beginning in fiscal year 2007-2008 2006-2007, the
23 sum of $13.5 $15 million is appropriated annually from
24 recurring funds in the General Revenue Fund to the Grants and
25 Donations Trust Fund within the Department of Elderly Affairs
26 for the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr., Alzheimer's Center and Research
27 Institute at the University of South Florida for the purposes
28 as provided under paragraph (6)(a), conducting and supporting
29 research, providing institutional research grants and
30 investigator-initiated research grants, developing and
31 operating integrated data projects, and providing assistance

1 to statutorily designated memory disorder clinics as provided
2 under s. 430.502. Not less than 80 percent of the appropriated
3 funds shall be expended for these purposes, and not less than
4 20 percent of the appropriated funds shall be expended for
5 peer-reviewed investigator-initiated research grants.
6 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
7 law.

16 An act relating to the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr.,
17 Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute;
18 amending s. 1004.445, F.S.; reducing the annual
19 appropriation to the Grants and Donations Trust
20 Fund within the Department of Elderly Affairs
21 for the purpose of conducting research and
22 carrying on other activities at the Johnnie B.
23 Byrd, Sr., Alzheimer's Center and Research
24 Institute; providing an effective date.
