EXPLANATION:
The amendment appropriates $1,605,922 from the
Insurance Regulatory Trust Fund and authorizes 16
positions as senior insurance fraud investigators in
the Division of Insurance Fraud of the Department of
Financial Services for investigation of insurance
fraud in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami, including
Broward and Palm Beach counties. Additionally,
$470,056 is appropriated from the Insurance
Regulatory Trust Fund for transfer to the Justice
Administration Commission for the prosecution of
insurance fraud in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami. The
amendment reduces $1,536,842 in Expense and $539,136
in Aspire Project Hardware and Software
appropriations in the department's Division of
Information Technology.

Funds in Specific Appropriations 546A, 546B, 546C, 546D, 546E, and 546F, authorize sixteen full-time equivalent positions as senior insurance fraud investigators and provide $1,605,922 from the Insurance Regulatory Trust Fund. The associated salary rate is 814,208. Personnel appointed to these positions must be certified law enforcement officers. These positions shall be included within the certified law enforcement collective bargaining unit and shall have a minimum annual salary of $46,262.
