7     Remove line 491-507 and insert:
8providing for an additional alternative homestead exemption for
9low-income seniors, providing for assessing rent-restricted
10affordable housing and commercial and public-access waterfront
11property pursuant to general law, and requiring the legislature
12to limit the authority of counties, municipalities, and special
13districts to increase ad valorem taxes, and the creation of
14Section 27 of this Article providing for election of a county
15property appraiser or a person responsible for the duties of a
16property appraiser, and this section, if submitted to the
17electors of this state for approval or rejection at a special
18election authorized by law to be held on January 29, 2008, shall
19take effect upon approval by the electors and shall operate
20retroactively to January 1, 2008, or, if submitted to the
21electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next
22general election, shall take effect January 1 of the year
23following such general election. The amendments to Section 4 of
24Article VII creating subsections (h) and (i) of that section,
25creating a limitation on annual assessment increases for
26specified real property, shall take effect upon approval of the
27electors and shall first limit assessments beginning January 1,
282009.
