| 7 | Remove line 491-507 and insert: |
| 8 | providing for an additional alternative homestead exemption for |
| 9 | low-income seniors, providing for assessing rent-restricted |
| 10 | affordable housing and commercial and public-access waterfront |
| 11 | property pursuant to general law, and requiring the legislature |
| 12 | to limit the authority of counties, municipalities, and special |
| 13 | districts to increase ad valorem taxes, and the creation of |
| 14 | Section 27 of this Article providing for election of a county |
| 15 | property appraiser or a person responsible for the duties of a |
| 16 | property appraiser, and this section, if submitted to the |
| 17 | electors of this state for approval or rejection at a special |
| 18 | election authorized by law to be held on January 29, 2008, shall |
| 19 | take effect upon approval by the electors and shall operate |
| 20 | retroactively to January 1, 2008, or, if submitted to the |
| 21 | electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next |
| 22 | general election, shall take effect January 1 of the year |
| 23 | following such general election. The amendments to Section 4 of |
| 24 | Article VII creating subsections (h) and (i) of that section, |
| 25 | creating a limitation on annual assessment increases for |
| 26 | specified real property, shall take effect upon approval of the |
| 27 | electors and shall first limit assessments beginning January 1, |
| 28 | 2009. |
