| 10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 11 |
|
| 12 | Section 1. Paragraph (u) is added to subsection (3) of |
| 13 | section 408.036, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 14 | 408.036 Projects subject to review; exemptions.-- |
| 15 | (3) EXEMPTIONS.--Upon request, the following projects are |
| 16 | subject to exemption from the provisions of subsection (1): |
| 17 | (u) For the establishment of a teaching hospital, with a |
| 18 | maximum of 200 beds, on the main campus of a state university |
| 19 | with an accredited medical school exhibiting activity in the |
| 20 | area of graduate medical education as reflected by at least |
| 21 | seven different graduate medical education programs accredited |
| 22 | by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education and |
| 23 | the presence of 100 or more full-time equivalent resident |
| 24 | physicians. A project described by this paragraph is entitled to |
| 25 | immediately receive a letter of exemption upon filing for it, |
| 26 | and a state university with an accredited medical school may not |
| 27 | receive a letter of exemption for more than one project |
| 28 | described by this paragraph. |
| 29 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008. |
