| 14 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 15 | |
| 16 | Section 1. The Legislature shall establish a joint select |
| 17 | committee to review the methods currently used by each circuit |
| 18 | court and county court in this state to collect court-related |
| 19 | fees, service charges, costs, and fines. The committee shall |
| 20 | consist of 13 members, of whom five shall be Senators appointed |
| 21 | by the President of the Senate and eight shall be |
| 22 | Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of |
| 23 | Representatives. The committee chair and vice chair shall be |
| 24 | designated jointly by the President of the Senate and the |
| 25 | Speaker of the House of Representatives. The committee shall |
| 26 | review for a period of 1 year methods used by the circuit courts |
| 27 | and county courts in this state to collect court-related fees, |
| 28 | service charges, costs, and fines, after which the committee |
| 29 | shall submit recommendations to the President of the Senate and |
| 30 | the Speaker of the House of Representatives as to an effective |
| 31 | uniform statewide method for collecting court-related fees, |
| 32 | service charges, costs, and fines to be mandated for all circuit |
| 33 | courts and county courts and clerks of such courts. |
| 34 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008. |
