| 8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 9 |
|
| 10 | Section 1. Section 2 of section 3 of chapter 2002-382, |
| 11 | Laws of Florida, is amended to read: |
| 12 | Section 2. Status and boundaries of Shawano Water Control |
| 13 | District.--The Shawano Water Control District is hereby declared |
| 14 | to be an independent water control district and a public |
| 15 | corporation of the State of Florida pursuant to chapter 298, |
| 16 | Florida Statutes, as it may be amended from time to time, and |
| 17 | the lands lying within the area described as follows in Palm |
| 18 | Beach County, Florida, shall hereby constitute the Shawano Water |
| 19 | Control District: |
| 20 |

| 21 | All of Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17 and 18 of |
| 22 | Township 45 South, Range 39 East; and all of Sections |
| 23 | 1, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 28, 28, |
| 24 | 29 and 30 of Township 45 South, Range 38 East; and all |
| 25 | of those portions of Sections 2, 3, and 11 of Township |
| 26 | 45 South, Range 38 lying Northeast of the centerline |
| 27 | of the Hillsboro Canal; and all of those portions of |
| 28 | Sections 19, 24 and 30 of Township 45 South, Range 38 |
| 29 | East lying Southwest of the centerline of the |

| 164 | Section 2. No expansion of the territorial boundaries of |
| 165 | the district shall be effective until a landowner referendum is |
| 166 | conducted by the board of supervisors within 60 days after the |
| 167 | effective date of this act on the question of expanding the |
| 168 | territorial boundaries of the district. All landowners within |
| 169 | the current district and expanded district boundaries are |
| 170 | entitled to vote in the referendum held pursuant to this |
| 171 | section. The referendum shall be held on a one-acre, one-vote |
| 172 | basis at the expense of the district. If the landowners approve |
| 173 | the referendum described in this section by a majority vote of |
| 174 | the acreage cast, this act shall take effect immediately. |
| 175 | Section 3. This act shall take effect upon approval of a |
| 176 | majority vote of the qualified electors of the area described in |
| 177 | section 2 voting in a referendum to be held by the Shawano Water |
| 178 | Control District in a special election to be held within 60 days |
| 179 | after the effective date of this act, except that this section |
| 180 | and section 2 shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
