An act relating to the purchase and delivery of handguns;

amending 790.0655, F.S.; exempting a law enforcement

4

officer purchasing a handgun from the mandatory 3-day

5

waiting period running between the purchase of a handgun

6

and the delivery at retail of a handgun; providing an

7

effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 790.0655, Florida

12

Statutes, is amended to read:

13

     790.0655  Purchase and delivery of handguns; mandatory

14

waiting period; exceptions; penalties.--

     (2)  The 3-day waiting period shall not apply in the

16

following circumstances:

17

     (a)  When a handgun is being purchased by a holder of a

18

concealed weapons permit as defined in s. 790.06.

19

     (b)  To a trade-in of another handgun.

20

     (c) When a handgun is being purchased by a law enforcement

21

officer as defined in s. 943.10.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
