An act relating to motor vehicle license plates; amending

s. 320.0841, F.S.; providing for issuance of free license

plates to members of the Choctaw Indian Tribe; providing

5

an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Section 320.0841, Florida Statutes, is amended

10

to read:

     320.0841  Free motor vehicle license plates to members of

12

Choctaw, Seminole, and Miccosukee Indian Tribes.--

13

     (1)  The department shall issue each year, free of charge to

14

any state agency or individual, a sufficient number of motor

15

vehicle license plates for use on vehicles owned and operated by

16

members of the Choctaw, Seminole, and Miccosukee Indian Tribes.

The allocation for any year may be increased by an amount equal

18

to up to 10 percent of the allocation for the previous year. Any

19

request for such increase shall be accompanied by formal

20

certification of the need therefor by the Choctaw, Seminole, or

21

and Miccosukee Tribal Council, as appropriate Councils.

     (2)  The department shall provide an appropriate application

23

form and procedures for request and issuance of the license

24

plates.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
