A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Seminole Tribe; creating s. 285.21,
3F.S.; authorizing the Seminole Tribe to become a party to
4existing mutual aid plans, arrangements, and agreements
5under certain conditions; providing requirements for the
6Division of Emergency Management and the Florida
7Department of Law Enforcement; authorizing modification of
8mutual aid plans, arrangements, and agreements for
9specified purposes; providing an effective date.

11Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13     Section 1.  Section 285.21, Florida Statutes, is created to
14read:
15     285.21  Mutual aid plans, arrangements, and agreements.--
16     (1)  The Seminole Tribe may become a party to any existing
17mutual aid plan, arrangement, or agreement, as established
18pursuant to s. 23.1225 or s. 252.40, by executing a copy of such
19plan, arrangement, or agreement with the appropriate law
20enforcement agencies or political subdivisions and providing a
21copy with original signatures and authorizing resolutions to the
22Division of Emergency Management of the Department of Community
23Affairs and the Department of Law Enforcement.
24     (2)  When the Seminole Tribe becomes a party to any
25existing mutual aid plan, arrangement, or agreement pursuant to
26subsection (1), the Division of Emergency Management of the
27Department of Community Affairs and the Department of Law
28Enforcement shall abide by the terms of the agreement and shall
29assist the Seminole Tribe in the same manner as required to
30assist political subdivisions as provided in s. 252.35 and local
31law enforcement agencies as provided in part I of chapter 23,
32the Florida Mutual Aid Act.
33     (3)  A mutual aid plan, arrangement, or agreement entered
34into pursuant to this section may be amended to comply with the
35provisions of this chapter.
36     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
