A bill to be entitled

An act relating to psychology licensure; amending s.

490.005, F.S.; requiring the Board of Psychology within

4

the Department of Health to close an application of an

5

applicant who fails to pass the licensure examination or

6

submit evidence of completing postdoctoral training within

7

a period of time set by the board; authorizing persons who

8

have completed postdoctoral residency training to continue

9

the practice of psychology under certain circumstances;

10

providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Effective January 1, 2009, subsection (3) is

15

added to section 490.005, Florida Statutes, to read:

16

     490.005  Licensure by examination.--

17

     (3)(a) The board shall close the application file of any

18

applicant who fails to pass the psychology licensure examination

19

and the Florida law and rules portion of the examination or who

20

fails to submit evidence of completion of the postdoctoral,

21

supervised experience within a timeframe specified by the board

22

by rule.

     (b) An individual who completes the required postdoctoral

24

training residency may continue to practice under supervision if

25

she or he does so in a manner prescribed by the board by rule,

26

has a current application on file, and no final order of denial

27

has been issued.

     Section 2.  Except as otherwise expressly provided in this

29

act, this act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
