Section 40. Section 1013.375, Florida Statutes, is created

to read:

1013.375 New or renovated educational facilities; standards
12
for energy efficiency and sustainability.--Each new educational
13
facility and each renovation of an educational facility that
14
costs more than $100,000, must achieve, at minimum, a silver-
15
level certification in the rating system used by the United
16
States Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and
17
Environmental Design, a two-globe rating in the Green Globe
18
rating system used by the Green Building Initiative, or the
19
equivalent requirements in the Florida Green Building Coalition
20
Standards. This section does not apply to a facility if the board
21
approves the design for the construction or renovation before
22
July 1, 2009.
