14 | (65) FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE LICENSE PLATES.-- |
15 | (a) Notwithstanding s. 320.08053, the department and the |
16 | Florida Fraternal Order of Police shall develop a Fraternal |
17 | Order of Police license plate as provided in this section. |
18 | Fraternal Order of Police license plates must bear the colors |
19 | and design approved by the department. The word "Florida" must |
20 | appear at the top of the plate, and the words "Fraternal Order |
21 | of Police" must appear at the bottom of the plate. |
22 | (b) The requirements of s. 320.08053 must be met prior to |
23 | the issuance of the plate. Thereafter, the license plate annual |
24 | use fees shall be distributed to the Florida State Lodge |
25 | Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Committee, Inc., a 501(c)(3) |
26 | corporation, to fund programs involved in the honoring of law |
27 | enforcement officers who have fallen in the line of duty and |
28 | their families. Such funds may be used to provide maintenance of |
29 | the memorial, scholarship programs for spouses and children of |
30 | fallen officers, and transportation, food, counseling, and other |
31 | direct administrative and program expenses. The funds may also |
32 | be used as grants for expansion of programs for the Florida |
33 | Fraternal Order of Police Law Enforcement Memorial. Florida |
34 | State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Committee, Inc., |
35 | may retain all revenue from the annual use fees until all |
36 | startup costs for developing and establishing the plate have |
37 | been recovered. Thereafter, up to 10 percent of the annual use |
38 | fee revenue may be used for promotion and marketing of the plate |
39 | and as necessary for annual audit or compliance affidavit costs. |
