     Section 68.  Subsection (1) of section 627.06501, Florida

9

Statutes, is amended to read:

     627.06501  Insurance discounts for certain persons

11

completing driver improvement course.--

12

     (1)  Any rate, rating schedule, or rating manual for the

13

liability, personal injury protection, and collision coverages of

14

a motor vehicle insurance policy filed with the office shall may

15

provide for an appropriate reduction in premium charges as to

16

such coverages when the principal operator on the covered vehicle

17

has successfully completed a driver improvement course approved

18

and certified by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor

19

Vehicles which is effective in reducing crash or violation rates,

20

or both, as determined pursuant to s. 318.1451(5). Any discount

21

that is not less than 5 percent and not greater than 10 percent

22

is presumed to be appropriate unless actuarial data demonstrates

23

otherwise. Any discount, not to exceed 10 percent, used by an

24

insurer is presumed to be appropriate unless credible data

25

demonstrates otherwise.
