Senate Resolution

A resolution recognizing the Greater Miami Chapter of

3

Continental Societies, Incorporated, on its 20th

4

Anniversary of serving South Florida's children and

5

youth.

     WHEREAS, Continental Societies, Inc., an international

8

public service organization dedicated to the socioeconomic and

9

cultural welfare of underprivileged children and youth, was

10

founded in June 1956 and incorporated nationally in 1972, and

11

     WHEREAS, the Greater Miami Chapter of Continental Societies,

12

Inc., was installed into the Societies on January 30, 1988, at

13

the Radisson Mart Hotel under the sponsorship of the Atlanta

14

chapter and became the 32nd chapter in the 32nd year of

15

Continental Societies, Inc., to officially become a member of the

16

national organization, and

17

     WHEREAS, Vashti Armbrister and Earlene P. Dotson, the

18

organizers of the Greater Miami Chapter, recruited a group of

19

enterprising and innovative Christian women who wanted to have a

20

positive effect on the lives of children and youth, and Earlene

21

Dotson, a dynamic leader, was elected the first President of the

22

Greater Miami Chapter, and

23

     WHEREAS, the mission of the Continental Societies, Inc., is

24

to create environments within our communities which empower

25

children to gain access to quality and appropriate opportunities

26

to reach their optimal potential, NOW, THEREFORE,

27

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

29

     That the Florida Senate commends the Greater Miami Chapter

31

of the Continental Societies, Inc., on 20 years of service to

32

children and youth.

33

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with

34

the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the Greater Miami

35

Chapter of the Continental Societies, Inc., as a tangible token

36

of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
