An act relating to mental health and substance abuse

services; creating s. 394.8751, F.S.; authorizing the

Department of Children and Family Services to establish a
5
pilot program in Manatee County which integrates services
6
provided by an adult mental health crisis stabilization
7
unit and an addictions receiving facility; requiring
8
licensure; providing eligibility criteria for services;
9
providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

Section 1. Section 394.8751, Florida Statutes, is created
14
to read:
15
394.8751 Integrated adult mental health crisis
16
stabilization unit and addictions receiving facility services
17
pilot program.--

(1) Beginning July 1, 2008, the department, in consultation
19
with the agency, may establish a pilot program in Manatee County
20
which integrates services provided in an adult mental health
21
crisis stabilization unit with services provided in an addictions
22
receiving facility as described in s. 397.311(18)(a), except that
23
the facility providing such integrated services shall be licensed
24
as an adult crisis stabilization unit and must meet all licensure
25
requirements for such units.

(2) The pilot program may provide services to adults, 18
27
years of age or older, who fall into one or more of the following
28
categories:
29
(a) An adult meeting the requirements for voluntary
30
admission for mental health treatment under s. 394.4625.
31
(b) An adult meeting the criteria for involuntary
32
examination for mental illness under s. 394.463.
33
(c) An adult qualifying for voluntary admission for
34
substance abuse treatment under s. 397.601.
35
(d) An adult meeting the criteria for involuntary admission
36
for substance abuse impairment under s. 397.675.

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
