An act relating to license plates; amending ss. 320.08056

and 320.08058, F.S.; creating a Florida Tennis license

plate; providing for the distribution of annual use fees
5
received from the sale of such plates; providing an

effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

Section 1. Paragraph (mmm) is added to subsection (4) of
11
section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read:
12
320.08056 Specialty license plates.--
13
(4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be
14
collected for the appropriate specialty license plates:
15
(mmm) Florida Tennis license plate, $25.
16
Section 2. Subsection (65) is added to section 320.08058,
17
Florida Statutes, to read:

320.08058 Specialty license plates.--

(65) FLORIDA TENNIS LICENSE PLATES.--

(a) The department shall develop a Florida Tennis license
21
plate as provided in this section. The word "Florida" must appear
22
at the bottom of the plate. The United States Tennis Association
23
Florida Section Foundation may submit a revised sample plate for
24
consideration by the department.

(b) The department shall distribute the annual use fees to
26
the Florida Sports Foundation, a direct-support organization of
27
the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development. The
28
license plate annual use fees shall be annually allocated as
29
follows:

1. Up to 5 percent of the proceeds from the annual use fees
31
may be used by the Florida Sports Foundation to administer the
32
Florida Youth Tennis Programs.

2. The United States Tennis Association Florida Section
34
shall receive the first $60,000 in proceeds from the annual use
35
fees for the programs of the United States Tennis Association
36
Florida Section headquarters in Daytona Beach. Thereafter, 15
37
percent of the proceeds from the annual use fees shall be
38
provided to the United States Tennis Association Florida Section.

3. The remaining proceeds from the annual use fees shall be
40
available for grants by the United States Tennis Association
41
Florida Section Foundation to nonprofit organizations to operate
42
youth tennis programs, for building and maintaining public tennis
43
courts, and for marketing the license plates. All grant
44
recipients shall provide to the United States Tennis Association
45
Florida Section Foundation an annual program and financial report
46
regarding the use of grant funds. Such reports shall be made
47
available to the public.

Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
