An act relating to funding for delinquency prevention;

amending s. 985.605, F.S.; providing for the Department of

4

Juvenile Justice to allocate certain moneys to identified

5

high-crime or high-delinquency areas; providing for the

6

updating and distribution of data; providing an effective

7

date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Subsection (3) is added to section 985.605,

12

Florida Statutes, to read:

13

     985.605  Prevention service program; monitoring; uniform

14

performance measures.--

15

     (3) The department shall allocate a proportionate share of

16

all state and federal appropriations for delinquency prevention

17

to high-crime or high-delinquency areas, identified by zip code

18

and geographic area, and based on data obtained from crime

19

information systems. The department shall update and distribute

20

this data no later than May 1 of each year to the public via its

21

website and to local juvenile justice councils and boards and to

22

appropriate legislative committees.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
