An act relating to the Florida School for the Deaf and the

Blind; amending s. 1002.36, F.S.; requiring that salaries

4

for full-time instructional personnel at the school be

5

increased annually according to the average of certain

6

comparable salaries; requiring annual negotiation of

7

salary schedules; providing an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

     Section 1.  Subsections (7), (8), and (9) of section

12

1002.36, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (8),

13

(9), and (10), respectively, and a new subsection (7) is added to

14

that section to read:

     1002.36  Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.--

16

     (7) INSTRUCTIONAL PERSONNEL SALARIES.--Critical to

17

accomplishment of the mission and objectives of the Florida

18

School for the Deaf and the Blind is the retention of valued

19

instructional personnel at the school. To bring about such

20

retention, the salaries for full-time instructional personnel at

21

the school shall be increased annually to the average of

22

comparable salaries, based upon academic qualifications and years

23

of experience, in the school districts of Clay County, Putnam

24

County, St. Johns County, and Flagler County. The salary schedule

25

for instructional personnel at the school shall be negotiated

26

annually in accordance with chapter 447. This section shall be

27

implemented to the extent funding is specifically provided for

28

this purpose.

     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
